Replacing rear leaf springs + shocks / need advice
One of the leaf springs on my 87 4runner recently failed (see post here) and I'm looking to replace both leaf springs with new ones. My truck is basically a daily driver with weekend camping trips + rare light offroading. 33" tires. I have a couple of questions:
- It seems that lots of people like the oldmanemu CS009R . Are those the best replacements to go with, or are there other leaf springs (maybe cheaper ?) that people might recommend? - My current leaf springs have a 3"-high lift block. If I put in the CS009R, which I think is supposed to give a 2" lift by itself, could I / should I transfer the lift blocks, or should I just leave them out? - I will probably replace the rear shocks too while I'm digging around back there. Any recommendations for rear shocks? |
prepare yourself or opinions. few things, the reason everyone goes with the OME is because it doesn't require relocating the spring hanger, which a lot of after market ones do. there are cheaper options but would require that shackle hanger move. the chevy 63 swap is by far the most common. rides smooth and gives a 3' lift for very little money. I have OME light packs, but I run Bilstein shocks because I think the OME shocks ride too stiff (I haul no weight aside from the spare tire and a small bag of tools).
