Replacement Fenders for 1st Gen 4Runner

Hi all,

I have been looking around for replacement front fenders for my '89 4Runner and I think I found a pretty good price for them on Amazon. Yeah...Amazon.com. The only thing is that it is from some obscure seller I've never heard of: Fresh Cabin Air. Sounds kind of weird.

Anyhow...I can get both fenders shipped to my door for $170. Is that a good price? Everywhere else seems to be well over $200 shipped (next closest is Car Parts Wholesale at $195 shipped). However, I wonder if the quality is comparable. I mean, there can't be that many places out there making replacement fenders for 1st Gen 4Runners, right? Probably the same piece. I guess ordering car parts from a business that specializes in car parts is probably a bit safer. A $25 difference is negligible peace of mind I suppose.

Lastly, if something is listed as a replacement fender for '84-'88 Toyota PU trucks...that's going to work fine on the '89 4Runner, right? They look the same but you never know...not some weird difference between the two is there?

Thanks for any guidance you guys can give me here.

I agree. I was initially looking at those, however, the additional cost could be applied somewhere else on my rig. Although, since my 1/4 panels and rockers are rusted out, I will be forced to pick up their fiberglass 1/4 panels.

It would be nice to have fiberglass fenders at all four corners for the sake of not having to deal with rust anymore and also knowing that it would be pretty easy to patch up any body carnage.

Hmmmm...

I bought my replacement fender from a local parts house for ~$75 each. If you don't know where one is where you live, run into a NAPA or Orielly and ask where a body panel supplier is and call them.

Hey Corey,

It would be awesome to no longer have to deal with the rust in the rear 1/4 panels and rockers. In fact, the P.O. tried to stop the rust with that expanding foam usually used in homes for drywall insulation...classy. It's pretty much a huge mess right now. I'm not going for a trailer queen body and paint job on the rig...but it would be nice to make it look half-way decent driving down the road.

More than likely I'll be putting in an order for the 1/4 panels in a month or so.

Mahalos!

junk yard a set or even ask members here. prob will still be cheaper, but you could still end up with rust....good luck

OrRunner,

I would but I do not have any welding ability. Don't know how to weld and I'm afraid of how much it would cost for a local body shop to cut out the rust and weld in any "new" body panels.
