Replaced HG, now I'm skipping with no power
I need your help guys. I just got my 86 22R put back together. New HG, Engbldr timing chain, cover, and oil pump. The truck starts fine, put has a noticable skip that it didn't have before I tore it down. Also, I can only get about 30 MPH. I has a definite bog even when I work the throttle by hand.
I've adjusted the valves several times. Last time after driving so it was warmed up.
Anyone had this happen to them? Timing? Vaccum lines?
Please help me get ole red back on the road.

Seems umnaimous for timing.
Sure hope I didn't let the chain slip a link on the bottom gear. If I did, is there a cure short of pulling it back down?
Thanks for the replys. Got a mechanic friend coming over in the morning.

If your timing checks out then check your compression. If the thing popped a HG and overheated the head warped, if you didnt get it machined you probably popped it again

Yep, it was timing
It helps to have friends that are mechanics for a living. He turned the distributor about twice, then said pull the cover. When we put the bottom on TDC the top was advanced about 2 teeth. I let it slip on the bottom when putting it back together and didn't know to compensate for it on top.
Ole Red is back running like the sweet lady she is. Just cackles a little every now and then.
Thanks for all the tips and advice during my problems. I'll keep reading and posting passed on my experience, but I hope I don't need to take advice any time soon.
