Question Reliable source for rebuilt 3.0l motor & tranny?

Hello all, first post to this forum

I have just acquired a 1992 4x4 extended cab truck with 200K miles on the odo. The truck itself is in really good condition, not the same can be said about the motor and tranny. I am looking to purchase a rebuilt or re-man motor and tranny. I have looked on ebay and the web in general, but I'd like some feedback from you all for reliable sources. Prices seem to be in the 1600 range for motor + core and about 300 for a automatic tranny.

All comments and replies greatly appreciated!

cheers
-Brad

I'm glad Orient Engine is getting good props! I used them to get a new rebuilt 3.0 for my Runner a few months ago. They are the most flexible by far. Their rebuilt was cheaper than another sites salvage! They pay you the core charge up front, and won't charge it back unless you don't send the core back in 30 days. REALLY great company.

I've heard great things about orient...but IMO you would be better off doing...yeh you guessed it...a SWAP. I'm notta fan of the 3.0.

I recently swapped my auto for a manual in my 89 Runner and when I took my auto out it was still in perfect condition. I would be willing to sell if you are interested... Not sure where you live but if you are interested we could talk more details...
