Recently rolled 4-runner now it wont start, why wont it ??
I rolled my 90 4-runner last night, and now it wont turn over. its a v6 auto.
the starter wont engage, it acts like it isnt in park, ANY ADVISE?? :horse: |
maybe a good idea to replace all the fuilds and pull the plugs before you start it
One thread is enough...
take plugs out clean them or replace them and turn starter over with no plugs in. I flipped mine and found this out what happens is oil fills the cylinder and will lock the motor up. Unless it is turning over then it is something els
It isnt even turning over at all, the starter isnt engauging. is there a safty or a relay?
can you hear a clicking sound?
Could have bent the shifter linkage.Turn the key to start with one hand and pull the shifter thru the gears with the other. If that dont work then theres a wire pulled loose somewhere.
it doesnt turn over even when u take all the plugs out and turn it over with them not in?
I say that because I had the same symptoms and thats how I fixed mine.
i ran it through all the gears and No luck, it just click when i turn it over. it clicks from inside the cab, the ecu on the pass floor board
Do as previously suggested, pull all the plugs out, let the motor crank until all the oil gets blasted out of the cylinders, clean the plugs and fire it up. If the truck was upside down for too long you will have to pull the intake plenum and clean through there. When I rolled mine I had oil all the way down to the air box!

THE MOTOR wont crank.. its not sending a signal to the starter., SO its not going to turn over..
It rolled and landed on its wheels, so the oils isnt going to be a problem, its a wiring or saftly issue, <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g286/gtpunk18/DSC08825.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> |

No i was wheelin and caught a rut going down hill |
looks pretty bad and the front wheel looks a little crooked guess its better than caveing in the roof not a easy fix
run a wire strait from the + battery down to the + on starter and see if the starter will turn...If it does, turn your ignition to on and try to start the engine with the wire from battery to starter. It's kinda ghetto but thats what i'd do to find out where the problem is exactly. (oh and be sure its in neutral or park if ya do this)
the roof is f-ed up too.. but the wheel cut is is from the lift, i need to align it..
i know there is a switch in late 80's ford trucks that cuts the power if you get in a wreck. In my bronco it was on the firewall in front of the brake pedal. Might be something to look in to.
