Reccomend Muffler and Clutch ...

Now that the engine is good, I need a new muffler and tailpipe.
Also going to do the clutch soon.
I do mild offroading, its a stock rig. Would the Marlin clutch kit be overkill?
Also, was just considering a "stelership" muffler//tailpipe, 122 $ or so.

91 Stock PU 22re 4wd

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.!

Dude...if you just do mild offroading, I'd get a clutch off ebay (exedy) and keep everything stock. These trucks are AWESOME stock...

Marlin clutch! Best clutch I have ever used. Don't get the super heavy duty clutch though, its too much. Get the heavy duty kit. And get the shifter seat and bushing while you're at it. You will NOT regret it.

Jay, I knew you would weigh in

I ordered the Marlin Reg duty (heavy) clutch kit , another commission to Jay. They were on sale so for the shifter seat, some other ring, clutch, HD bolts, it came in at under 200 $ US including shipping. Great deal! Will be awhile till I install it but I'm stoked
Muffler to be installed sooner. This 91 yota pickup is not so dead after all

Heh, Marlin needs to start paying me

You will be happy with the clutch! I ended up paying alot more for my clutch unfortunatly (silly 80 dollar border fee!!).

I have a 88 4runner with a rebuilt 22re and I just got a new exhaust today and it sounds really good. I got 2" from the y pipe back to the cat and then 2.25" from the cat back with a flowmaster 40 and it sounds sweet. I originally told them that I wanted a 50 series because I didn't want it too obnoxiously loud or to high pitched like a honda becaust I take it deer hunting, but they called me back half way through and said they made a mistake and they only had the 40 series, so I told them just to put it on. I think with the 2.25" pipe it keeps it a little quieter, but it still has a nice rumble and sounds good when you get on it a little. Sounds really good at idle! I paid $400 for mine, which was pretty good considering I called 3 other shops and was quoted about $600, but $400 was still a little high imo. Hope this helps!

I have two 1988 trucks with different set-ups.My daily driver has a LCE headers with 2.25 pipe with Borla muffler & Clutchmaster clutch. My other truck has the Doug Thorley tri-y headers with 2.25 pipe with Flowmaster Super 40's muffler & Trail Gear 1600lb pressure plate with ceramic clutch.
The Clutchmaster has a harder pedal pressure than the the Trail gear set-up is soft on the pedal but grabs very well but doesnt feel like an overkill 1600lb pressure plate.Ive had a TRD clutch in the past and its more racy and a very hard pedal.
The main things that you do is have a resurfaced flywheel ready and make sure there is no leak coming from the tranny or engine, pilot bearing changed too.Upgrades to the ARP flywheel bolts & Marlin Crawler pressure plate bolts is pretty good add-ons.I got my flywheel from Checkers for 45 dollars exchanged for my old one.

Thats the great thing about the marlin clutch. It feels just as soft as the stocker. But with more clamping force.

The exedy clutch I just put in feels like there's nothing there when I depress the pedal. The marlin clutch feels the same way? Wow...I should have got that, huh? I think exedy will work long enough. I'll let you guys know when it bites the dust, though...
