To rebuild, or to buy rebuilt...
To the forum i pose this question, It looks as though the 22re engine that i had rebuilt for my 90 4x4 toyota pu has burned through the rings within 20K miles. So, to buy or to rebuild again?

okay, so a website... i have websites coming out of my nose. A little bit more would be nice, unless of course you have never replaced or remanned a 22re. then just leave it at the website.

I've never replaced one myself but I bought a 22re from Orient engine for my 86 4Runner a few years ago and my mechanic installed it and it was an excellent engine. Orient has a very good rep on this board if you just want to get another reman. I was just trying to steer you in the right direction since you said that the last one you bought was a piece of junk and died after 20k miles. Good luck

That sucks. I had a $1400 reman in a truck I bought a few years ago. It lasted to 70k miles.
Ring failure at 30k is odd... What "level" of rebuild did you have done? Some people call throwing new bearings and a HG at a motor a rebuild.
Buy a complete kit from engnbldr, find a qualified machine shop, have the rebuild done...
