Rebuild 22RE and piston ring breaks a week later
When you rebuild your 22re and it breaks a piston ring a week later oh and on top of that we are supposed to be getting 5-10 inches of snow the next few days and major ice. which means no snow play for me and only emergency trips. i have another block and head to rebuild AGAIN, and i will be when my parts get here, but are there any harmful effects from driving with a broken ring? im 95% sure thats it because its EVEN MORE gutless, it blows a pretty large amount of blue smoke, it stumbles, and there is no oil/coolant mix. so again, would it hurt to drive as long as i keep oil in it?

There is no way to know if you have a broken ring without tearing down the engine. Why do you suspect it? Your symptoms could be caused by alot of things. How many miles before the rebuild and did you have a ridge at the top your cylinder? Did you break a ring installing the pistons ?

not too worried about the cylinder wall because the guy who helpd me rebuild it is getting this block and im getting another and when he builds it it will be bored 4 over and made into a race motor for his buggy. It drove great for a week then one day headed down a driveway i hear this little tink noise, it starts missing, is even weaker, and is pouring blue smoke. what else could cause my symptoms?
