rear window blues
 
hello i have a 86 4runner and the rear window will not go up or down.the back door the key does not work and my lights for the liscence plate does not work either.the switch in the console used to work until the other day i checked to see if the lock switch was on but it is off.now when i press the window down nothing happens but when i press it up it makes a click but nothing clicks when i press it down this is from the inside of the vehicle.i have taken the back of to check all the connections and everything looks good what should i look for i hope someone can help me and thank you for your time. :help: yes i have checked other threads but it hasnt helped me go oilers go

Check the micro switch in the rear quarter panel. If you have a bolt missing from the hard top (Where the switch is) then it will not go up or down.

I think it is the 3rd bolt from the back window that has the switch on it.

thank you eric the red but i have already printed that off, however the solution it had for the key switch on the back door with the loose connectorand no lights on the liscence plate did not work for me.thank you

Sorry I couldn't offer any more help, I think I'm one of the few Runner owners that hasn't had any problems with my back window

i have found the click sound when i press the switch up in the vehicle it is coming from the relay module but when i press the switch down nothing comes from the module i have checked all the connections and the third bolt in the back i hope someone can help thank you very much go oilers go

Try this, on the inside of the runner take the switch off of the 5 pin connector. Then take an alligator clip( wire whatever), ground it like to the key or bolt some where on the truck. Then put it on one side of the 5 pin, then on the other side. One side makes it go up one side makes it go down!

Sorry their big, if you can do this and it works that its most likely its your switch. They cost like 84$ from dealership. Look on Ebay though!
