Lockright - under 250 bucks at http://www.performanceoffroadcenter.com/

I love mine :)

88wildrunner 01-30-2008 09:32 PM

i have aussie lockers they are also $250 and work great.

the aussie's and the lock right are a similar design.

Jay351 01-30-2008 09:38 PM

The aussie is a copy of a copy of the original lockright, thats why they cannot sell the aussie lockers in australia. :)

Plus if you have a v6, good luck getting a v6 aussie. I bet they sold a ton of pre-orders. And we all know how long it takes them to get shipments over to north america.

do you have v6 or 4cyl? the 4cyl costs more than the v6 and you cannont interchange them. personally i had a bad experience buying from PORC but they do have the best prices on lockers. i have heard its better to call them with your order rather than buying online if you do go with them. but the price is about 250-300 for a lunchbox locker.

pull the cover and weld it $20.00

sloppy85toy 01-30-2008 10:58 PM

its a little harder than just pullin the cover but its cheap.

If you go to all the trouble to pull the rear center section out, you might as well put in a locker of some sort instead of welding. (Not saying welding it up is bad) I have installed Lockrights in both toyota & jeeps. Never heard any bad comments on them. They said they worked great. But a few didnt care hearing the clicking noise from them. All a Lockright does is replace the spider & axle gears. Its easy to install also. I was going to run one in my 87 toy but i went full spool instead.

detroit is the only way to go I think, I have an aussie now

ovrrdrive 01-31-2008 12:36 AM

For $300 you're looking for either an Aussie or a Lockright. As mentioned they're very similar but if you can get an Aussie it's probably the better of the two simply because of their warranty. Either one would suit your needs just fine.

If you oder from PORC it's probably better to call them.

Do you have a V6 or a 4 cylinder?

Red3.slow 01-31-2008 09:29 PM

I'm surprised no one has said search yet

b.miller123 01-31-2008 09:46 PM

Issues 01-31-2008 11:25 PM

True! Lol...

ovrrdrive 02-01-2008 12:29 AM

You have an 8" Toyota with either a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder carrier depending on what motor you have in the truck...

just look in Mexico for a Yota scrap yard, and look for a Hilux Surf or diesel 4Runner. most of them came with factory lockers or LSD's. if you get one used it won't be bad in price, new will cost you. Lockers started Factory from 1990 to current. only in Hilux Surf/ 4Runner with diesels came with lockers/LSD's factory in 90-95. after 1995 petrol 4Runners(american/canadian) came with locker choice.

You might be able to find a builder Toyota e-locker for $300. Keep an eye on Craigslist and eBay.
