Rear leaf reccommendations

I pulled my alcans off and sold them the other day. So now I need to get new rear leafs. I am running 56"ers. I liked my alcans, but they were built for my old 4runner (I actually just sold the springs to the guy that bought the runner) and WAAAYYYY to stiff. The main reason I went alcan was noone made a strong enough spring for the weight of my runner.

What 56" springs do you guys like? Allpro, Marlin, or should I go with more Alcans. All but Marlin have the anti-wrap leaf. The alcans are whatever rate I want, Allpro's are 250 lbs/in, and marlin doesnt say.

With 35's I am pretty sure I want the anti-wrap leaf...

There is also a local spring shop I could have some made, but not sure if I want to go custom again, mainly for pricing.

Any input is appreciated.

Take your truck to a scale, pull on just the front axle, get a weight, then both get a weight, and drive off the scale til just the rear axle is on and get a weight. Send that to Alcan and get a "semi custom" set based on the weight of your vehicle.

I just called the local shop. They have never done the half leaf for axle wrap, but could. Probally be about 200/ea.

Also called Marlin. 182 lbs/in...really soft compared to Allpro.

Called Alcan, price is up to 230/ea. Last ones I had made were about 200/ea I think. My old spring rate was in the 250-270 range. I had 4 7mm leaves on the top 4 leaves instead of the normal 2, so there is a bunch of room for improvment.

So, now I guess I need to decide on a spring rate. Marlin is out of the question, I really want the "torque leaf" as Alcan calls it. I have been thinking about running air shocks (custom mount) to and from the trail when I need the extra carrying capacity for camping gear.

Allpro also has their "super flex" but I need more than 3" of lift...

Have you considered Chevy's with an AAL (don't know how much lift you need) or perhaps Trail-Gear?

I am leaning towards softer rates for a better around town ride, and more flex on the trail. I have a feeling the P/U wont be my main gear hauler in about 9 months, the runner will have to tag along, so I wont be loading the truck as full as when it was just me and wife camping :-)
