Do a search on retreads. This topic has been popping up quite a bit lately so I know theres plenty of info on them.

If it were me, I'd bite the bullet and sock away a bit more to get new tires.

You can find good deals on ebay for a pair of used tires. Got a practically new pair of bfg at's for $160 shipped.

if i bought re-tread tires, they would be on a seperate set of wheels and used for offroad only at low speeds.

ever see a re-tread let loose on a semi.

Who cares i have a spool and go through tires like crazy 440 dollars for 37"s count me in in a few months.

Tires are your vehicles only contact with the pavement and have the most affect on how it drives.

Good tires can make a not-so-good vehicle drive good,
and conversley
bad tires can make a really good vehicle feel not-so-good.

It is my humble opinion that tires are not a good place to cut corners.

I would not buy a retread, for starters most tire failures start within the tire carcass. A visual inspection before retreading is not enough there is stuff you cannot see going on buried under the rubber.

I would also like to know how when one buys a set of tires how all the carcasses match up in the end as different companies do different stuff.

It's not worth risking my life of the lives of others to save a few bucks. Plus semis have redundancy built it with dual wheels and all.

True but i dont see how they could manufacture them if they were so unsafe?
My grandpa has ran retreads from our local tire factory for years without a problem.

I think people take the name, re-tread and say, oh no that's bad.


Truck drivers nationwide use them more than brand new tires and rarely do their blow outs result in deaths or anything of the sort. sure, they've got 17 other wheels but still.

I'd say you'd be okay, but don't expect reaaaaaaal good preformance

I wouldent anyway. Oh the tires over 33's are not highway rated but i wont take my 4runner of 65 anyway, way to scary lol
