Quick question...lost battery bracket bolt

Ok, so I was working on valve cover gaskets yesterday, and somehow I lost my bolt/screw that tightens down the battery (right above the passenger headlight). Good news is that I know I didn't drop it in the intake or anything like that. :rockin: Bad news is that I don't know what size it is.

Does anyone have any idea what size thread this bolt is? A good guess? I don't have any way of knowing besides going to a hardware store and picking out several and hoping they work and don't strip the tap. I should be able to get one at a typical Ace hardware store or equivalent right?

If I remember right it's a M6, length about 25 mm or so but that's probably not as important.

mmmmm try the one off the washer bottle Im farily shure its the same bolt. If it is, take that one in hand to the Hardware store.

or better yet, stop in your local advance auto parts and pick up one of there metic kits of nuts/bolts. they arnt grade 8 but its got quite a range of all the common metric nuts/bolts that has come in handy more than once for the kind of stuff you are looking for.

Actually, I think they are grade 8.

Unfortunately, grade 8 JIS (usually called 8.8 metric) is similar to grade 5 in SAE (inch).

OK - a little nitpicky, but people need to learn to ask for the right thing! I was looking for some grade 10 metric (similar to grd 8 SAE) and had a helluva time finding them. Eventually had to get Fastenal to order them. Every hardware store had grd 8 bolts though...WTF? LOL

Thanks so much for the replies. I picked a few up today from the local hardware store.

Yotatech is great...this would have been much more involved and time consuming without yall's help!
