I need to replace the A340H Tranny out of my 1988 4runner V6 4x4... I found a nice deal on one out of a 93 V6 4x4 (110k miles for 200 bucks)... Will it wire up 100 percent? I dont know if they changed the electronics or anything between the 1st and secon gen, I cant imagine they did...

no.. it is my understanding that 88 and 89 trannys use mechanical speedo and 90+ use electric... therefore a 93 will not bolt / plug right in.

Thats right, 92 ithink was the year for the electronis speedo... However looking at my transmission, it looks like the drive gear can be removes, so i assume the electronic speedo gadget can be removed and swapped with the cable drive mechanism... I hope, because i think i m going to pick this up... How are the 5vz swap boys doing it?

I might be wrong but, I think my 90 and 91 use a mechanical speedo.
