Question for you 1stGen 4runner/2nd gen pick up owners.

Hi everyone, i didn't get any response on the 84-85 zone so i figure i'll just ask here because theres a lot more people here.

In addition, we have the same truck/runner shape so it does not really matter where i ask i guess.

Anyway, cut the chase...heres my question:

How much weight can the rain gutters on the side of the cab area safely take on these trucks/4runners?

I just bought a "homebrew" con-ferr safari rack
w/bulldog clamps and wanna make sure the cab gutters can take a decent amount of weight.
THANKS

the cab area gutters can take quite a bit of weight, I'd guess at least 250 lbs spread between the two
the gutters on the 4runner shell however, I question....
if the rack is totally on the cab, with 4 points of contact at least 12" apart, then I might up that to 350 lbs.

WOW 350 POUNDS
i was thinking they were only good for about 100 or so (including rack) the rack i just got is a customized (nice word for homebrew) con-ferr that i estimate about 45lbs so i guess ill be safe then.
