Funny the other day I was looking under my '89. It's a little dirty right now but the only thing that is showing any rust is the Jeep spring I Zuk moded with. I painted the end where it was cut to 12". Here you can see the Chrysler logo tag I left to confuse mechanics and future owners.

I installed Superior helper springs. They lifted the truck 1" and they do keep springs from flattening out with a load on. I only put single on each side. My rear tires are now 5 1/2" from wheel arch, front tires 7" from wheel arch so not a perfect solution but the truck does not sag when I put a load on. A second set of the helper springs could also be added. These are a 20 minute job to install both sides.
