pulled the top off and busted the A bolt sensor thing. Options?
I pulled the top off the 89 a few minutes ago and while tightening down the A bolt (the one with the anti-rear-window sensor under it) I heard a *snap* and something fell inside the fender. Sure enough after pulling the bolt back out the darn little sensor isn't there anymore and even with the bolt out I can't roll the window back up.
Anyone else have this happen? If so is it common or have I really jacked something up?
Oh and now that I have the top off the neighbor comes over to let me know that we have snow forcast for the weekend.......

Anyone? I'll probably have to but the dang thing back on this weekend and I need to be able to roll the rear window up.
Is there a way to eliminate the sensor?

If you pull that panel off the tailgate, you can "hotwire" the motor if you have a car battery sitting around the garage.
Here's my writeup on fixing the relays, in it an over-detailed explanation how to hot wire the motor. Basically, stick the + and - wires from the battery into the blue plug. If nothing happens, switch the + and - and try again. Your window should go back up fine.

Here's another site that may help.:

lol worst comes to worse. shove a battery in the back then crawl in from the front of the truck, make sure the back door inside cover is off. unplug the 2 wire connector off of the motor and use 2 wire leads and the battery to roll it up.
I have no idea what sensor your talking about... all my runners/friends the window switches never worked and the wiring was bad so i just starting rigging up some DPDT switches...
EDIT: damn i got beaten to it haha

Assuming you are talking about the sensor about 1/2 up the quarter panel on the drivers side? just jumper the wires. All the switch does is complete the circuit when the bolt is in, so if you jump the wires together, the system will think the top is on all the time.
