Power Steering Rebuild Screwup, Need Advice
After getting my '90 4WD Truck P/S gearbox on the bench I made a big mistake during the disassembly.
I pulled out the control valve assembly first, and the piston got stuck at the bottom of the cylinder The cross shaft won't turn at all, and the adjustment screw holding on the cover for the cross shaft is also getting stuck and can't easily be turned more than a quarter to a half turn in either direction before it gets completely stuck.
Went back and looked at the actual Toyota manual like I should have in the first place and they clearly say: Remove cross shaft cover first, then cross shaft, THEN the control valve assembly. Figured the manual would only be needed for reassembly. Not the case.
Is there anything I can do to keep the disassembly moving at this point or did I turn the whole box into an expensive brick?
