Power steering problem
Hello guys i recently took my 1990 toyota pickup mudding and i had got stuck and turning trying to get out after i got home i relized im leaking power steering fluid from where the steering shaft meets the gear box is im guessing its a seal but is that an easy fix? |
Yeah, no...
It is a serviceable part, most don't bother and grab a junkyard one. However if you have to ask, your going to have to do some research. Consult the FSM and see if it's something you feel OK with. Then hunt up the parts. |

I'd start with the manual. http://web.archive.org/web/201209150...ng/13gearh.pdf The seal can be replaced, but the whole thing looks pretty daunting to me (lots of Special Service Tools; do you have a torque wrench that will read 4.3 inch-lbs?) With more information about your rig, the part numbers can be found here: https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/sho...rimLevel=18381 The seal alone is not that expensive.
RockAuto has remanufactured units for around $200. I think that's the way I'd go. |
