power steering fluid leak(anyone heard about this recall?)
my 94 runner has a bad ps leak that is hard to pinpoint the exact origin.i searched the web today(yotatech is blocked for me at work???????)and came across this http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/...ta_4runner.htm
i wonder if the dealer may take care of this for me?
anyone with a similar problem?
sorry if this is a repost im posting this from the library and have little time.

I had a leak on the side of the power steering reservoir. There is some sort of sensor there that enters through an o-ring. Since the power steering uses auto trans fluid I bought some stop leak fluid and poured it in there. Going on 2 years with no leaks.

Check out this thread for the scoop on that steering rod recall. No power steering fluid involved, sorry.

i keep getting letters from toyota about the steering relay rod recall.right now im taking it easy on my ride.she is all prepped for the sas in the front so im not bothering with the recall since it will all come out anyway.
when i bought my rig it had a headgasket problem and i found out from this site about the recall.the dealer looked into it and it had never been back for the recall.once they had it apart they said there was too much damage inside the engine and they would have to call yota to find out what to do.toyota said to replace the engine for FREE!that was somethin i was not used to with any other vehicle ive had.i just recently saw the new recall about the power steering system and thought maybe it was for the pump but i guess not.
btw i did put power steering fluid in mine last time instead of trans fluid.im going to have to locate the leak or at least drain it and get the dextron 11 in.i should have looked here 1st

it's called the 50n campain. What the dealer is going to replace is an upgraded relay rod and do an alignment. Make sure you ask for a copy of the sheet from the alignment to make sure it was done. Your pitman arm and idler arm are probably shot too as well as your tierod ends. Its good to get it all done in one shot.

I had a PS pump leak, it was the large diameter o-ring on the back of the case, I asked around at some heavy equipment dealers(they deal with a lot of hydraulics) and they referred me to a joint that specialized in o-rings, they matched it up for me- the seal was 12 cents! Not a drop since then. The front seal is less then $10 at the dealer if you need that.
