Power door locks won't stay locked

I have a 2nd Gen. 1995 4runner. Everytime I lock the doors, either manually or automatically, they just pop unlocked again right away. For a while it would do this every once in a while, but now it's automatic everytime. So I can't lock my doors and that sucks! Does anybody know what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks.

Mine only does that if I leave the keys in the ignition, so I would start there. Not saying you left your keys in ignition, but if what ever causes this whether it be a sensor, solinoid could be stuck. If you have a shop manual, trace the circuits and maybe you will find the culprit. I have a different year, but I would assume the principle is the same.

Mine does this every once in a while. It is frustrating.

I found that mine will almost never lock if the passenger door is still open... but I don't really know why. Maybe a short... and the truck is trying to keep me from locking the keys inside, or trying to help me open all the locks at once.

Sorry I can't personally be of help, but thought I'd subscribe to this thread and see if others have some ideas. I'll update if I figure anything out as well. :great:

My 92' does that once in a while, usually in a place where I would really like to have my doors locked. All I have to do is give the ignition key hole a good tap with my middle finger, it releases something with a *pop* and the doors can be locked again. I assume something inside is just sticky and could use some lube, but I don't mind poking my baby once in a while.

I assume the problem is the car still thinks my keys are in the ignition and the *pop* is something inside being released when I smack it.

Interesting. I'd bet that might be my problem as well. My key is really worn, so maybe the "pop" is not popping on occasion.

good advice guys. I do have the pop problem, but for some reason I don't think it is related. but maybe. Thanks.
