Possibly need a new engine!

I believe my old trusty 22re is on its last leg. Hopefully I can squeeze another 2-3k out of it, but in the meantime I need to look at my options. I have been looking at lc engineerings crate engines. The EFI Pro Stroker Long block looks like it would give me that power that the engine sorely lacks but I don't know exactly how perfectly the fit will be. If it is a great swap it might be worth it. I also see lots of info on the 4.3 swap, which could be the cheaper way to go. Any advice on which way to lean or a different solution would be appreciated. Oh, its a 1994 pickup 4x4 5-speed.

I run a Buick 3800 V6 in mine. Advanced adapters sells most of the stuff to put it in. After that, its just hooking up the wires and getting it to run correctly. Its got good power! I run 4:10s and 33s. She does 70 MPH down the highway no problem. Just throwing that out there. The Buick 3800 has been around for a LONG time, and is a dependable motor. readily available aswell

Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I have a buick with that engine. It gets great fuel economy and has plenty of power for a heavy car. As long as the swap is not too difficult, it might be an option. How much time and effort did your swap take?

For V6's theres the buick 3800, chevy 4.3, toyota 3.4
For V8's theres chevy 350/5.3 or Ford 5.0 that all have been done before.

If you like having a 4cyl. there are a few companies that have been used on the forum. Orient, LC, some have even gone with Jasper. Just a thought. Swap another 22RE in it and have less hassle of having to mod and rewire
