Planning to sell my old 3.0

And I have a question. The headgasket sprung an external leak - I pulled over immediately (was just idling in traffic after climbing a pretty big hill). When I drained the oil, there was no contamination of the oil with coolant, so I think the HG problem is a minor one (with no collateral damage)

My question is, I plan to sell the motor as is - should I pull the heads and shoot pics of the valves and pistons since the HG's will need to be replaced anyway? I remember that DMG found the HG's for a good price, so the repair cost wouldn't be excessive for a DIY'r.

Ive got a couple of extra myself that ive been trying to move out of the garage for a while.... About half the responses have wanted pics and wanted to know if i have taken it apart... the other half was happy i hadnt done anything to it. (that way they know all the parts and bolts/screws etc are there)

Personally i would rather not have it messed with by its previous owner. I have less faith in there wrenching capabilities than mine.

Considering core charges of $460 for this motor and $2800 for rebuilt units, these should be easy to sell for the DIY rebuilder.

hmm, thats a tough one cebby. i agree with snap-on, if i did not know the person, id prefer to have it fully intact. but really i guess id want it intact so i could do my anaylisis on disassebly. from someone like you that is known on the forums, and from what i know of you, you know your stuff, i would trust it disasembled. just depends on the person. i actually just(like 15mins ago!) won an ebay auction for a used shortblock. got it cheap(100) but no heads, and crank needs to be turned. i just needed the block and mounts, so no biggie for me. good luck with selling it
