it took 5 hrs or so but I fixed 2 other trucks in that time too. 90% of the install time was getting the old manifolds off. I had to cut the crossover pipe on the drivers side & the manifold came out pretty easy. The pass side I ended up cutting the manifold between 3&5 then I cut the crossover again. Some of the bolts were in spots that we could not get enough tq on to break loose. The sawsall is you friend.
I actually did the install 3 days after I got the headers I just had some other stuff going on.
I do not have a body lift so they will fit a non lifted 4runner with no prob.
As far as close the are near the firewall on the pass side but do no touch. I had to move some brake & fuel lines. It also touches the starter.
I am going to contact Thorley about that crossover pipe

When I put my engine back together with the headers I was unimpressed actually kinda disappointed to be honest. The next week I got around to making a 2.5" exhaust system out the back and whoa! that made a substantial difference. I opted for a 1.5" body lift on my truck to clear the headers easily and avoid moving lines. I also clamped mine together for the first few days but it didn't take very long to realize I needed to weld everything. I dropped the cross member and let the whole exhaust down a bit and welded everything together and it sounded much better after that.
