Post Overcharging the AC can be bad too

Hi All,

Well today the old girl started to high rev low rev on me in quick succession.

A/C was working overdrive and switching every 2 seconds.

Did some searching and everything that i found stated that the refrigerant was probably low.

So off to Advance we go to get one of the refill items.

Connected it with the engine running and full blast cold on the A/C and actually found that the refrig was too high.

I had the A/C recharged when i rebuilt the engine and they obviously went overboard with it..

Just want you all to know to beware of this as if you happen to get an R134 refill kit without the guages and try refilling then it could be catistrophic to your system.

Crap now i think I may have over filled mine. Mine gets cold for a while then stops and then gets old again. Are these symptoms of overcharging??

To properly charge your a/c system you need a set of presure gauges hooked up to the a/c system and you want to run 10 pounds of back presure on the low side of the system for it to operate properly. with out the proper gauges to monitor the a/c system your just guessing and that can be dangerous.
