Moving up to 33x10.5 tires and looking at rockcrawler rims from Summit and 4wheelparts.

Cragar Soft 8's:
15x7 - 4" Backspace
15x8 - 4.75" Backspace

15x7 - 3.75" Backspace
15x8 - 4.5" Backspace

My thoughts are to go with the 15x7 ProComp with 3.75, with the least amount of backspace. Comments/opinions?

The 4runner is getting OME rear springs and SDORI ball joint spacers up front, with the stock torsion bars relaxed a little, per AxleIkes info.

I'm reading through a ton of posts on Backspace...derrrrr...comments appreciated though.

Also, the link to 4wheelparts above is a sale "buy 3 get 1", works out the same $ with Summit.... but the ProComp might be a better rim than the Cragar.

I think you would be happiest with the 3.75" backspacing. I forgeet what the SR5 Rim backspacing you have (same as my old 86 4Runner) but I know the 3.75 will set your wheels out a little more. Should look good when installed.

you want more back space. Otherwise, they'll rub.

TC has stock rims. He is running a 33x10.50. He doesn't rub at all, with the pinchweld pounded flat. I'm pretty sure stock rims are 4.75.

I have 3.75 back space. I run a 33x9.50 tire. I have a pounded pinch weld, and can still rub occasionally, when the wheels are turned just so, and the truck is flexing.

You're 10.50's are going to rub even more.

I run 33x10.50s on 4" backspaced 15x8 wheels and have no issues...this is with around 2.5" of lift too. 4" backspacing seems to work just fine. You can go with 3.75, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Thanks guys. My stock SR5 aluminum rims are 4 5/8" backspace, I just measured. Maybe they call that 4 3/4". Heh.

So I will need to go more backspace than 3.75" for sure. I don't want to end up cutting the fenders, I'd rather have the tires stuff up inside the wells.

Now the question is which 15x8 to get: (trying to figure out the differences when going up to the 8" rim)
Pro Comp - 4.5" bs no offset listed
Soft 8 - 4.75" bs, +6mm offset
Soft 8 - 4" bs, -12mm offset

With my 31x10.5's, I have the ProComp 97's 15x8, 4.5" backspacing. The only rubbing I've seen is on the upper control arm, when the tire droops it rubs an inch or so.
This obviously isn't a perfect comparison, but the bulge on the 33's may not hit the control arm where my 31's do.
The wheels on my Runner when I got it were much less backspacing, I never measured to find out exactly what, but with worn out 31's they rubbed the back of the fender at steering lock with nearly no flex.

those fenders look either tubbed and cut or high clearance fiber glass. Stock will catch the outer fender.

I would use the stock rims. I have 33x10.50 on 15x7 with 4 inch backspace.

I just got some nice SR5 rims to put on. I really like the look of big tires on stock rims.

With the 4 inch back space I can rub in the rear at max flex...

They don't stick very far but more than I like

The right rear is on a rock, the rear fender is pretty close...

i ran 33x10.50 TSL Radials on 15x7 steelies with 4" backspacing. no issues with the control arms

i now have 33x12.50 Trxus on 15x8 steelies w/ 3.75" backspacing. again no issues w/ the control arms

so if i do the pinchweld mod on a 2nd gen runner and run 33x10.50 on stock rims without a lift, will i have a lot of rub, or just minor? how bout if i jack up the t bars?
