Old parts, toss them?
So i just rebuilt my 3.0 and have some old parts that i don't know what to do with. Not sure if i should scrap them or if i could sell to to someone who needs a core or can rebuild? I have 2 complete heads but the cams and heads both have scratches in the journals, i also have the old water and oil pumps. What do you guys think, chuck them out? Thanks

ALWAYS keep and try to sell, someone may need a busted part for a core or anything, why not at least list them in a few places for free, and try? No sense throwin money out the door.
Even if you sell for $5, its money you didnt have before...

Personally, I'd keep 'em. Parts are expensive if ever you need them in the future.
Case in point....
I had to rebuild the top end of my 3vze because the heads and cams were scored beyond repair...long story. But, fortunately, I'd kept all the parts from a previous motor that had thrown a rod, so I had heads, cams, etc. that I could replace them with and spent far less money than I would have otherwise.
Say for some odd reason you crack a head from an overheat 100k miles down the road. You'll be glad you have some replacements.

Well I'm gonna go the other way. Oil and water pumps are cheap enoough that I wouldn't want to use a used one anyway. I would dump those. The heads I would keep if they are rebuildable AND if I had the desire to rebuild them. Otherwise I would scrap those too. You did buy new ones for some reason. Aluminum is high, if you want to strip everything else off of them, you could make a few dollars at the scrap yard.

i dont think used oil and water pumps would be worth anything but you should try to sell the heads, or keep them for later, if you are that kind of person but dont just scrap the heads unless you cant get rid of them any other way
