clutch jobs are easy... Should cost you under 300 bucks if you do it yourself. Including a good clutch kit and flywheel resurfacing...

I hear ya man, sometimes I freak when things just keep happening, but it just sounds like crappy luck man.

What went out on the clutch, your actually clutch disk or did you lose your slave cylinder?

Hey at least you found one with a 5spd, I couldn't find one anywhere so I had to settle for the automatic, and now I'm stuck with the automatic and it's really syarting to annoy me.

theres 190,000 miles, but the engine was put in about 90,000 miles ago. toyota did some recall and a new engine was put in for free.

and how did my clutch go out, i was driving it yesterday, and i noticed the clutch was acting like it was about time to be replaced, so i was gonna do it this coming up weekend, but today i was driving it home ( i was halfway up a steep hill in the middle of a bunch of traffic) and i pushed my clutch in to downshift, and the petal stayed depressed. i managed to get it pulled over to the side of the road, and pulled the clutch out and then i put it in 1st and started it back up, and that gave me enough of a boost to get it off the road and into a parking lot. i can put it into any gear, including reverse, and it wont move, just revs up the engine. plus i can smell my clutch.

Pedal staying depressed sounds like lack of fluid to me, bad slave or master.

If it is the clutch though then it's just coincidence, bad luck, same as if your brake pads were shot, it was just time.

There's 190K on it, you can't be that surprised.

yeah, its just a pain in the ass.

and i checked the fluid when it happened hoping that was it, but all fluids were good.
the pedal just stayed depressed the when the clutch first went out.

i got a new clutch kit for $130 from o'reilly's, and im friends with a mechanic who said he'd change it for $200, so im gonna do that and not complain, it gets me out of messing with that 4wd.

If the clutch slips while in gear, it has nothing to do with the hydraulics.
