Oil pan gasket and fan belts
My oil pan gasket is leaking on my 3.0 4x4. I know for a fact it is the oil pan gasket. I also need all new fan belts. I don't have the time to change repair everything, I am going to try and get this to a mechanic this week. About how much can I expect to pay for this?

You don't have an oil pan gasket, or at least you shouldn't. Toyota uses Form In Place Gasket material (FIPG) on their oil pans. Essentially, they use a bead of gasket maker. I used Permatex's "Right Stuff" when I swapped oil pans.

Are you sure, the 22RE used a cork gasket from the factory I think.
I would think it won't be cheap to do that gasket as you have to drop the front diff. The fan belts won't take long at all. |
Not true. My 91 22RE had FIPG for the oil pan. As a mater of fact, if you read the FSM, it tells you to use FIPG. I just did a complete rebuild on my sons 95 3.0 and used FIPG on the oil pan as well. The problem with the 3.0 is you have to work really fast because you have the metal spash pan inbetween the pan and the block and you have to have it completely torqued within five minutes.

Yes, I know about the FIPG. But, I am wondering how much I can expect to pay at a mechanic for all this.

just replace the fan belts yourself, its not that hard
and probably a nasty penny for the pan, im not sure about the 3.0 but the 22r's you have to drop the differential, id imagine the 3slow is similar... tedious call up your mechanic and ask him? |
