Odd Cooling Problem
My 1995 3.0 was cooling fine, or maybe a bit too fine, because the temp gauge would barely come off of full cold.
I decided to have my cooling system flushed and had them install a new t-stat (stant). I drove it on short trips (5-10 min) for a few days and the temp came up to the middle and stayed. I took it out on the highway on Sunday, got about 20 miles down the road and the thing started to overheat. The air temp was -2 F on that day. They checked the t-stat and said it is opening fine, and they now suspect the water pump. It just seems strange that it worked fine before the t-stat change, then the first trip of more than 10 minutes, it starts to overheat. Any ideas? |
odd how stuff works like that, soon as you mess with it to make it better it breaks, i think most water pumps have whats called a wheep hole, and when the pump isnt flowing right, it weeps out of this hole, i would also suspect the water pump if it was -2
