A new SUNROOF!!!!! Had it installed yesterday now I wont feel so jipped when the top is off lol. Nice 17"X32" 3 position unit lifts out easy and has two rollout sunshades. $350 installed. Thought Id get more enjoyment out of this than bigger tires that I dont need yet.
TADOW!!!! Cleanest truck EVAR!!!!

Looks sweet!! I have to add that your paint looks really good for how old your runner is. Sunroofs are great, love mine during the spring and summer months.

I may be in the minority here, but that just doesn't do that rig justice. Aftermarket sunroofs always leak, and look like crap after about 2 years. Its sad to see such a beautiful truck get chopped into just to install a sunroof.
Still love the truck tho, but a mod like that is one that you can never reverse.

VERY nice! Where'd you get that sunroof? How much? I'd been pondering one since the onset of warm weather for my '86. I assume it doesn't leak at all?

He can reverse it, but that would probably mean some welding.

If the sunroof is done right it'll be fine sicne technology in weather seals has come along ways compared to even just since the turn of the millenium.
Very nice looking 1st gen, almost looks showroom new.

the seals wear out really fast as they are made of cheap quality material. One that rubber starts to degrade, it begins to leak. Ever see those trucks running around with 2" of goop spread across the top? Plus with no drainage channels like on the factory setups, one that seal starts to degrade and warp, where you think that water goes? Especially in a place like IL where they salt the roads in the winter time.
I suppose 2 years is a bit undercutting, but with parts like the main seal and plastic pivots exposed to the elements, they tend to fade and become very brittle over time.
Like I said, the truck still looks beautiful and Im prolly in the minority, but im just not an aftermarket sunroof fan, thats all.

I noticed all the options yours had, and no sunroof. Whats up with that? lol. Must have been born in a place without much sunlight. Poor truck.
Pretty good warranty I must say. And that idea for your can-back sounds great. That would put a lot less stress on the material since its staying straight and not being rolled up.

No, I meant how much w/o installation....just the sunroof. I'd install one, if I got one, myself. Anyways, I'll go look at them at the site, thanks.
BTW, very nice job. Keep the seals sprayed with that Teflon/Silicon stuff. It works well.

I have no idea what it cost just for the parts...but at least $100 less is probably a good bet. As for the truck it came from TX so maybe they thought there was too much sunlight.

looks very nice, your rig is so clean. one of the things i miss from my '00 2wd SR5 4runner was its factory sunroof. and a few other luxuries that somehow didnt make it into my '00 4wd SR5 Tacoma...

There's one just like yours (w/o your specific additions, of course) with factory sunroof for sale here in Fayetteville, AR. It's not nearly as nice and clean as yours, though. And she wants $2,600.
