Not sure where to post but need help ASAP: 87 4x4 with 88 22r running issues

I just got done with a near complete under hood restore. Rebuilt engine, all new front suspension, well I just took my first few test drives fixing small bugs here an they but I can not for the life of me figure out why my ol yota won't run right? Now I understand it's factory under powered an just a 4 banger, but it has 0 power. When it is cold it runs pretty ok but as soon as it warms up I cannot even pull into my driveway with out holding her wfo to get it over the curb. Everything is new besides intake man., exs. Man., carb, and valve cover. The thing doesn't over heat but does got hot (op temp) really fast, and exst mani reaches 900 deg f in no time. I have played with timing with no results. Plz any advice is welcome. 87 4x4 with 88 22r

I'm not sure about the cat, everyone I know is back and forth over timing or carb. I'll take the cat off tonight and see of it helps at all.

Def. take off the cat, use a test or straight pipe if it runs better there's your problem. If that's your issue and you don't want to spring for a new cat, I suggest hollowing out your old one (of course this is only viable if there are no emissions laws where you live)

Red face

You are running a fuel pressure regulator or have swapped to the low pressure pump mounted on the head??

Then you have swapped ECU`s to match the carbed engine??

Along with the needed sensors and things??
