Noob with 1986 toyota 4x4 manual
Well I have been browsing the site since december-ish of last year. Really started reading this section daily for about 2 or 3 months now. Figured its about time to make a post and intorduce myself and thank yall for the wealth of knowledge that is provided by this site.
My names Bob. Im 25 and live in Marysville Washington (the state). I have a 1986 toyota 4x4 manual. It has a 22r (yes carberated, Im on strike against f.i.) with a g52 transmission. It has a 3 inch body lift with 31x10.5x15 inch tires. Was told by the previous owner it was only lifted 1 inch suspension wise by the previous owner. After I got it, I discovered rancho shocks and torsion bars. It has about 217,XXX miles on it.
Now for the good part. I did not pay a dime for the truck. My neighbor gave it to me because his wife had died and he had too many cars. Claimed the motor was rebuilt with "a lil something extra" (but wouldnt tell me what) about 60k ago. I currently have about 500 into it with the tires and the killer deal on craigslist I had found for the transmission and transfer case (from an 85) and brake master cylinder from a 94(350 from a nice man in seattle, about 100K on it). The transmission going out is a story and a half, sometime I'll explain the joys of a transmission locking into third in 0 degree temps in lake wenatchee in december.
I am currently replacing the headgasket and all that jazz (was leaking on the drivers side of the motor).
I'll post pics sometime soonhopefully, when my lazy ass isnt working on it or playing with the gf. (currently on unemployment, so why not play with the motor right?).

Thanks guys. I know the pain of people actually searching. I was on blazinlow.com for years and years. Seems like everybody says they searched, but they don't, or if they do they only try once and don't change there search words. it just amazes me about peoples lazyness. I'd rather search and see if I find the answer rather than wait for a reply.
I guess I should say some of my experience. Lemme see, I've done some 1st gen s10 v8 swaps. I've done all my own repairs or upgrades (within reason, no welder = shop for exhaust). I've tinkered with cars for 10 years now. No official experience, so I guess you could say ima backyard mechanic (except I don't hack stuff up like I've seen a lot of "mechanics" do). If its over my head I'm not afraid to admit it. In fact this headgasket is the first one I've done, kinda scares me, but whatever. I got the fsm, yotatech, and my neighbor was a toyota tech (I try not to bug em about it though, but I am gonna have him double check my work. And I am borrowing tools from him.)
