No turn signals, nada zip

89 Pickup 4x4 extended cab, Turn signals fine one day, completely dead the next day, no clicky, no dash indicators, nothing. . Flashers work, All fuses OK. Assumptions: flashers work so it's not the relay, all wiring good from the column to the bulbs. I need a procedure for testing the combination switch. Mine is 84310-35320. I'd like to jumper a couple wires or ground a wire to confirm that my combination switch has failed. Does anyone know which color wires in the harness are the ones for the turn signals? Thanks a lot for any help!

On a '94:

L-R from flasher to pin 3 of connector C12 (Turn Signal Switch). G-B from pin 9 to LH lamps, G-Y from pin 8 to RH lamps. The flasher provides battery voltage, through the lamps to ground.

I'm guessing that you'll have the same color scheme, but maybe not.

Sounds like a bad turn switch or the wiring to/from it. Its rare, but I have seen a flasher work fine with hazards but not turn before. They usually will come on but not flash though. If it's not even turning the lights on it's likely not the flasher.

This is how the switch/flasher works in an '87, fuse for turn signals is "engine" fuse:

Thanks a lot for the quick replies. I ohmed out the combination switch, it's good. 10A engine fuse double checked and good. There's a black relay up behind the parking brake handle that clicks and works with the hazards. However RockAuto shows the lookup for this truck to be a silver relay that I see on the fuse box as the turn signal relay. Is it possible that the hazard relay and the turn signal relay are separate? 89-95 have the hazard switch on the dash instead of on the column like in 85-88. You guys are really helping me, I appreciate it!

Is your truck a second Gen or a third Gen pickup. 89 is kind of a gray year there. When I look up a diagram for the 89 it shows the hazards and turns to use the same relay. 88 and older show separate. I'm pretty sure whe I look up 89 its showing as a third Gen.

SOLVED

New relay did not solve it. I had my buddy put his eyes on it. He started wigggling stuff and got it to click sometimes. He found a corroded 10A fuse lower right rear corner of the kick panel fuse box. even cleaning the terminals did not help but we bent the terminals a little and it works now. Fuse box probably has corroded internal connectors but for now it works. Hope this information can help someone else!

On a second-gen pickup, 15Amp engine fuse powers the turn signals as well as backup light, alternator excitation, etc. If truck ran well, and backup lights work, BUT turn signals do not, there might be a splice farther downstream that is bad but is now making "OK or So-so" contact after you moved things (where G-L wire meets R wire on the 1988). Need to look for that.

I'm pretty certain this truck is third gen, I have several second gen trucks and the interior and body style on this one is way different. The relay is definitely the same for hazards and turn signals, it lives in a black box above the parking brake. The problem was definitely with the 10A fuse and it's connection.
