no power @ EFI fuse or relay
 

We have an 88 runner 22RE that just up n died. Quick diagnosis revealed no fuel, so out comes test light and ohm meter . EFI fuse ok, EFI relay bench test ok, Circuit Open Relay test/function ok. problem is that EFI relay has no power on coil side of relay, nor is there any voltage at the EFI fuse. If i jump the EFI relay she fires right up. where to look next?:dunno::dunno:

Power for the EFI Relay comes from the "IGN" fuse. (it's a 7.5amp fuse) Check this fuse out. If the fuse is ok, check for voltage at the IGN fuse terminals.

I just re-read your post and saw that you are not getting power to the EFI fuse also. Check your fusable link. Do you have electrical power to anything?

Yes, sounds like a fusible link. The wiring changed somewhat between 88 and 89, so an 89 diagram may be of limited use. I see the 88 and 87 manual links no longer work: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f128...-years-156128/

Check the fuse block in the engine compartment and if you have an "AM2" fusible link, check that. On 89 and later trucks you have to remove the block because that fasteners that hold the fusible links are below.

BTW only the triggering side of the EFI Main Relay comes from the IGN fuse; the main power for the switched circuit comes from the EFI fuse.

I checked the fusible link and i have power there . There is also power to every fuse in the vehicle except for the EFI fuse.

Well then the connection between AM2 and the EFI fuse is bad. Identify the wire and trace the path, checking for power, until it doesn't have power any more. Could be a cut wire, or bad connection at the fusible link, or bad connection to the fuse box, or a bad fuse box.

If every other fuse has power, including IGN, which also gets power from the fusible link, sounds like something messed up in the fuse box - look underneath it and you might find a broken connection to the EFI fuse.

Thanks will do. Ill post results , I was hoping to avoid the wire chase olympics. But when you eliminate all the other possibilitys , a busted wire or connection is all thats left.
