NO BRAKES!!!!! Brake problem
Hello,
Well my ebrake was sticking so I tore apart the rear drums and cleaned and never seized everything. Well I adjusted the brakes till they just barely rubbed. Then get in for a quick test drive, the brake just goes straight to the floor. if you pump they come up a little but you quite pumping then the pedal goes to the floor. I tighted the brakes up even more same problem, played with that load sensing valve, still none. bleed them, still none. what gives, they worked (almost) fine before then i pull the drums and WTF. They were never that great, they were pretty mushy before but didn't go to the floor. I could stop decent, couldn't lock them up though. Thinking master cylinder? Please Help Me Thanks |
did you fix them ?
|
did you try bleeding the brakes?
|
Were you using the brake pedal to bleed them? That can ruin the piston seals doing that if the cylinder walls are corroded up.
|
Check the rear cylinders. Pull back the dust seals a little and see if there is brake fluid in them. If there is, then the piston seals in them are leaking. If there was a little corrosion in them when you were working on the rear brakes then it might have broken the piston seals. It could also be the master cylinder as someone already said.

did you pump the brakes before you test drove it????
|
Well i pumped them for ever and they were still barely slowing me down.
I bleen about a quart throught the rear and they are better now. I still tink I need a Master cylinder. they go to the floor in hard braking even if you pump them, but it stops decent. I won't lock them up on wet pavement. |
