Ok, Love my Toyota ext. cab '94. Motor blown. I have a 5.7 chevy in great shape. Question, can I mate it to my stock 5 speed tranny?

Heres a bare start:

But, if you have to ask, I don't think you're ready.

With enough time and money, just about any mechanical thing is possible.

I am ready. I had just been researching and 5.7 transplants I had read about were all using the gm auto trans. I don't drive crazy, but, do pull a 6x12 trailer regularly. will my stock 5 speed handle that with the 5.7. Learning through asking questions. Thanks

Well, you likely have a W56 or a R150 tranny in your '94.

Looks like Summit markets suitable adapters for either one.

Your 5.7 will likely make twice, or more, HP than the Toyota engine that your tranny was originally mated to.

The trannys are tough though.

I think how your tranny will hold up will depend on how thrashed it already is, and how easy you are on the skinny pedal.

The fact that the adapters are easily got points to the potential for good outcome, I would guess.

To me the clutch would be more of a concern than the transmission. You'll need to install a clutch suitable for the 5.7 Chevy. I can't imagine the Toyota clutch surviving long behind that motor.

Just get another stock engine and put it in or rebuild the one thats in it.
