New Yota owner/older truck. Would like advice

Ok, so after spending ten years in the Army, and seeing all the punishment that Yota's have taken...and dished out(with slight armament mods ) all over the world, I finally decided to buy one. I settled on a "not so used as others" '89 4x4 truck, with a brand new rebuilt 22RE engine, rebuilt tranny, rebuilt rear diff, and other things like new ball joints, new radiator etc...over all, it's a great little truck, runs really well, 4x4 works great, no leaks etc..

Now, it's sitting on a 3in body lift, and 33X12.50X15 Uniroyals. I'm not a huge fan of the body lift or gigantic tires. I'd like to pull the body lift and current wheel/tire combo off, and put it back to smaller, closer to original spec. I'm wondering, with no body lift, will late 80's early 90's 4runner 15" rims fit, and will skinny 31's fit without rubbing? My intended uses for my truck is as a daily driver, and hunting/fishing vehicle. for the forseeable future, it has no rock or tree crawling in sight. Only rutted, muddy, gravel mountain roads. Basically, I'm ok with walking if I don't think my truck will make it farther up the mountains, but I'd still like to get as far as I can get(I know that probably sounds corny to most of y'all). Aside from the truck as is, is there anything y'all would recommend for my intended uses? Or if there is a better wheel/tire combo that anyone recommends, please let me know!

Thanks in advance for any help. Just joined the forum today, and it looks like a great place!

Yes the wheels should fit.

The only area you might have a problem is if someone up graded the calipers.

Going the other way with the correct lug nuts I use wheels off my 2000 Tacoma on my 87 4 Runner

All I run is 15" tires 235/75/15

Welcome to Toyota`s

Thanks for the welcome and the answer! If the calipers have been upgraded (stupid me, I haven't checked), what problems would I run into, and how would I get around it while still keeping my intended goal in sight?

The newer wheels will work.

The older steel ones won`t because the new style calipers are bigger. Some have ground on the calipers to make things work.

It all has to deal with the back spacing which I don`t know off the top of my head.

The bolt pattern is a 6 on 5 1/2
