New owner - 87 4runner! A beast!
I'm new. This is my first 4wd, actually, first car. Always had/have bikes. Trail and road/race.
This thing is an old beast! Got it for $1500. I thought it was going to cost me $$$$ for repairs.
Nothing so far! Even the diff/gear/trans oil is relatively new!
Even got Haynes manual!
First time I have been offroad ((with more than 2 wheels)) was this weekend just gone.
This 4runner handled it all perfectly!
A good 5 hours driving yesterday. Lost our way by 40km. Got back on track. A beast!
Done some bush bashing. When through some water, mud and even slightly airborne.
Love it! It looks rough as guts. Has some issues.
Rear window button (console) does not work.
Driving lights (Narva) do not work.
High beam will does not come on when you push forward (work when pulled on). I think the driving lights are hooked to highbeam lines...
4th gear has a good clunk.
Grinds when going into gear.
But, if you pull from 3rd/5th a pause for a second and ease it into 4th its smooth with no grind.
May need a new gearbox.
Clutch feels like new!
Excellent for a first 4x4! Even if it does look like hell.
