So I can assume the crossover pipe was hitting your front driveshaft? Did the LC guy say what their goal with the crossover pipe was (to go over or under?).

I was told that they built it to hug the transmission just rear of the bell housing. Aparently a SAS truck was not an issue. Looking at the cross over it looks like it was designed to go below the IFS driveshaft.

Exactly what I was thinking. Pretty headers though. Whats different about these and the old LC design?

they definately have a much longer tube than NWOR or Downey....I think that will be a good thing But 1k? Ouch!

Yeah but how much are guys paying for 3.4 or 4.0 high quality headers? As much or more if I'm not mistaken.

I ordered mine on July 19th. I called today and they say 3 more weeks. Just my luck. Also, I couldn't figure out where you came up with the $864.04. My credit card statement says $649.95 USD. which is $695.89 CAN. I guess they realized what they had and raised the price $150 when they redid the website. Anyways, I hope they are worth the wait when they finally get here. Been waiting a month already.

Make sure you let us know what they plan on doing with the crossover.

Also....ceramic headers on the LCE site are up to $1200.00 USD. And that doesn't include the crossover. We still get off easy.

I finally went for a ride with the new header tonight. All I can say is wow! There is a nice little reverb @ 4500 RPM and the engine now pulls right to 6000 RPM. My engine was a slug between those engine speeds before. I do seem to have lost a little bottom end pull.

The headers went on pretty easily except for the last stud on #6 where the reed valve flange is:

LC provided everything to install the reed valve as well as the EGR valve:



This one was quite hard to stretch and put into place:

My question for you is you said you feel you lost bottom end pull - what type of exhaust set up are you running? Size? muffler? Cat or no cat? pressure or mandrel bent? because that would have a big impact on where your power ends up.

A good mod for these headers would be to space the reed valve out from the heads so that the tube isnt kinked as much. To that end the you'd need longer bolts, and about 1/2" of washers btwn the reed valve stay and the heads!

Sounds like these headers were designed for top end power not low end [real world] torque and power/fuel econ. I spoke to my mech. about headers a while ago and he told me that you can design headers for either situation these look like 3-1 non-equal length headers. there are also tri-y designs [NWORs I think]
and equal length tuned flow designs.
Anyway you slice it there is no way I'm forking out $1200US for headers, especially when the company does'nt give hard data on real world results for there product.

That is unbelievable. I paid $350 for my Downey ceramic coated headers (4-5 years ago). The Downeys are up to $575 now.

I agree!

The flange should have been about 1/2" forward of where it is. I also think the tube could have been a little longer. See how I had to force it into place. Just that took me about an hour.

Lets wait and hear what his exhaust spec's are before making that call.
IF he is running a 2 1/2" exhaust and he says he gained top end power and lost bottom end pull, that's not the headers fault, that's the exhaust volume and area as many guys with Downey headers and the Downey exhaust system which is 2 1/2" say the exact same thing - that they lost a tiny bit of bottom end power but gained lots of top end power. Now if he is running the stock exhaust or a 2 1/4" exhaust and he lost low end power/torque then it would be a problem in my mind.

Also - I didn't see anything about $1200 USD for these headers. They are still listed for $799 on the LCE website. It's just after shipping and all that BS they might be a bit more but if they are a high quality product, they provide a good gain, etc, they might be worth it if they take away or don't have the headaches/issues/design flaws the cheaper Downey's are supposedly known for (i.e. clearance issues, etc.).
