New FJ Steelies on 91 4Runner
Anyone know if the steel 17" wheels from the new FJ Cruiser will fit a '91 4RUnner? the bolt pattern is supposedly the same (6X5.5). I'm wondering about the hub hole size.
I have 32x11.50x15 BFG M/T's on MT Alcoa Forged Classics. I run mostly in soft sand and the M/T's bite like knives so i want some smooth street or a/t tires. I have a Z71 Suburban with 17" GoodYear's that will be replaced soon. They still have tons of tread so I'm would like to buy some 17" steelies and put them on the 4Runner instead of getting rid of my current M/T's. I have a line on some takeoffs from an FJ for cheap (without tires) so my only cost would be the rim and mounting of my old Z71's tires.
Many thanks in advance!

well i confirmed with the seller that they will fit so i bought them. $300 shipped to my door for 5 brand new take offs with 4 centercaps (5th was a spare so no cap). Will post some pics once I get them rubber'd and mounted.
Btw, does anyone know what types of lugnuts I'll have to use? I have the ones currently on my MT Alcoas and would just use those if possible.

wow. what a difference! I can now hold cruise at 70. way less rolling resistance. smooth quiet ride too. should be perfect for beach running. Once I do the ISR mod and continue to tune and tweak I should be in good shape for having 184K miles. And to think I thought this engine was shot :pat:

Thanks, even though I know there are nicer 4Runners out there than this one!
I found the FJ wheels on ebay. it was a listing for a single with a note saying he had all 5 and to email him to buy them all. I offered him $300 shipped to my door (Phoenix to South Texas) and he agreed. So i did a buy now on the single, paid for it and he sent me a paypal bill for the balance.
The bumper is an ARB. A buddy of mine sold me his 90 DLX extra cab pickup with it and the other wheels i have. I stripped all the goodies out of his truck and swapped with my then stock 4Runner. He had cut some circle holes in it to mount some projector driving lights. They were all rusted out and nasty by the time he sold it to me so i chucked them. The original black powdercoating was going bad and rusting so i tried to home sandblast it which was a nightmare with a tiny pancake compressor and Sears DIY sandblaster (i think with a lot bigger compressor it would have worked great). PLus it was 100 degrees outside which made the air full of moisture even with a drier on the line. I eventually did as much as I could and painted it with Hammerite with a brush. That was in 2003 summer. it is faded and starting to rust again. I'd like to cut off the winch mount as I'll never have one, weld up all the holes and then find someone with a dip tank to strip it then repaint it black and put my KC stainless hiliters on it.

Thanks! The tires are my Z71 Suburban's old tires, Goodyear Wrangler A/T's I think. They have 44,000 miles on them and plenty of tread for my 4Runner since it is a weekend driver and only sees a couple of thousand miles a year maximum. For the spare I used one of my dads takes offs which means I have 3 more better ones to put on when my original 4 are shot.
