New fan cluch, new coolant leak.

I replace my fan clutch last week. today I went out to start it and noticed the dreaded puddle! I got a puddle of coolant under the truck so I get under there and look and it's coming from the region of the water pump. Would replacing the fan clutch cause the water pump to leak?

Do you guys think ordering the water pump and replacing it would help?
Kinda stumped here,
Thanks for the help!

Woody

Replacing the fan clutch has no bearing if the water pump is leaking. Replace your water pump and you should have no more leaks...

Are you sure you didn't bump the radiator with a wrench,or the the fan clutch when you installed it? It doesn't take much to damage a tube on a radiator.

I can see where the leak is, now that I cleaned it up. Right at the bottom of the waterpump.

more resistance on the water pump shaft.. probably all it needed to show its failure.

common failure dude, just replace the pump, $30

Red face

It could be that as you swapped fan clutches your water pump seals were just about to fail.

As things got moved and slammed around it was enough to cause it to fail.

Then it could be just one of those random things that happen

Just curious why you changed the fan clutch??

Glad you got it figured out. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to parts failing...it just happens. Battries seem to be my achelies heel, they just like to fail without any warning.
