New 4Runner fender Flares(photos inside)
I haven't found much info on Yotatech regarding fender flairs, especially for the 4Runner. Seems like the options are either $350 Bushwackers, or ghetto fab some lawn-edging to your wheel well.
I decided to go on a journey to see what I could find. Interviewed some local off-road shops and explored the realms of Google. After surfing the Serious Exploration website (I know, I know), I found something that looked promising.
Pacer Performance 3" Heavy Duty Universal Fender Flair - $69.00 from JC Whitney
Some pictures from today:
I hope this helps someone else out there. Comments / criticism are welcome.

hah! I knew there was a universal fender flare, I've seen it on trucks in my town before, I just could never find out what the brand and where to get it was. I even tried asking around in my local auto parts store and they looked confused.
It doesn't look that bad at all, clean install. I wanted to do that to my gf's 3rd gen pickup to get the cops off her back but we ended up selling it :/
It looks pretty good.

Well, you did say comments/criticisms welcome. So, you got some snobs on YT. What's new???
Look just fine for the money spent. I mean, they are cheaply made and cheaply sold. They're not going to look as fancy as Bushwackers. But, damn.......those things are expensive. Screw that. Those do look better than some other universals I've seen. Be happy with what you got, man. To hell with the snobbery.

I would say those are BETTER than the rusting fender promoting bushwackers that actually COVER the fender...
Besides, I wouldn't feel bad about rippin one of those off on the trail as opposed to a brand new set of bushwackers. The ONLY reason I have a set of bushwackers is 'cause they are second hand and I got a deal on them. I DO NOT like having them on at all...stupid WA laws...

Oh, there are...haha. Mine's so limited I'll be fabricating my own out of free materials and a $15 can of fiberglass fill......hopefully. Many of my ideas never pan out quite the way I envisioned them. A big imagination can leave a lot of room for error.

Fender flairs are funny, they have to flow well to look good. Now I understand function, and I am sure they function. But they look kinda odd. And any fender flairs made specific to my 88 look odd. Ps you need more back spacing. Nice 4 runner.

if they were painted to match the body color they would seem like less of an add on.
I was looking at these also some time back for my 3rd gen. -I would agree Bushwackers are over priced but well engineered. For a 2nd gen your solution is just fine and much more economical if they get damaged in use.
Appreciate your sharing the pics.

Haha....then he'd need wider flares. And, then, it'd look like a roller skate on steriods.....
