I need some advice on removing the fpr on a 1988 toyota 4runner 22re, I can't figure out how to remove it for the life of me, any advice is greatly appreciated.

use a wrench on the integrated nut.

I'm not that dumb haha, the regulator wont come out after loosening the nut is what I'm having trouble with, so I guess that's on me for being vague

unscrew the fpr, then. there isn't anything else holding it in, other than corrosion/build-up. it will come out. the nut tightens the fpr, washer, and o-ring to the fuel rail. there is no magic to it.

It should be this simple. Probably just some corrosion. Make sure you don't have a random hose or something that's maybe binding on it. But the FPR is simply just unscrew and remove.

It's not a nut, keep turn it till it's out..
It lives here near the firewall..

Well I tried to 7nscrew it and it keeps hitting the bottom of the intake (efi?) Sorry, I'm new to toyotas so I'm struggling a little, all of your help is greatly appreciated though

If it doesn't fit force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway...

The fuel rail is only attached with two bolts, if you back those off you might have enough room. Don't drop your injectors, very fragile plastic lol

bummer. the fpr on the 22re normally can be removed without removing either the upper plenum, the lower manifold, or the fuel rail. it does help to unbolt the egr tube and rotate it out of the way (toward the valve cover).

I ended up just backing the bolts out of the intake enought to give it wiggle room to get it out, and removing the egr tube, the new one went in without even coming close to hitting, again i appreciate the advice and help guys.

Thanks for the update. Kind of figured someone bent it and should have asked you to snag a picture of them side by side.

I can take apic of the old one a little later today when I get off work, it doesn't look like it's bent at all though
