My truck just died fuel problems - resolved-maybe?
So I was driving today and out of no where my 86 4runner 22re just started dying. It lost power as if it was running out of gas lurching a few times then it just died.
After a fuel filter change still nothing. It cranks just fine and after sitting a while it did try and start for a very quick moment. It did that maybe 2 times and sounded like it was about to a few other times.
I am wonder if anyone has a checklist to go through to help trouble shoot this problem.
I changed the fuel pump last year as the truck sat for a few years and was clogged up with sludge and died. I also had the fuel tank cleaned at a shop.
Fuel pressure regulator? Vacume problems? The gas should be fine as I drove 50 miles on Sunday with the same fuel.

Okay, so I went and rented a tow dolly to pick up the truck. Well after I removed the rear drive line I then used the starter to power that sucker up the ramps and boom it started up after a a few cranks. Well it was towed home and after I put the drive line back in I started it up and let it idle to get to temp. Once it reached its running temperature I drove it in circles around the block and all was apparently fine, was running a bit rougher than normal, which it normally misses once and a while(fuel injectors from the factory, timing a wee bit off etc..). I got it on the back alley way and put it into 4 low so I could really rev it and not go fast. I made it about 100 feet before I killed it, popped the clutch messing with the transfer case. Then it would no longer start again, just acts like it was out of gas again.
Ideas?
Plenty of spark and plenty of gas.
Vapor lock vent lines?

Well it does start cold? I'll still poke around there.
and what about that charcoal filter canister. I can suck through the return to tank line but for the life of me I cant blow through the in line.
Checking the fuel pump here in a few minutes. Now that it is home and a more quite area we can not here it turning on and off.

Never mind, it was the 14 month old airtex fuel pump. 2 months after warranty it is dying, dead. Well at least I have a oem nippo coming in 2 days for 110.

Hopefully it will. I just cranked her up for the heck of it and well, it started right up....?
Ran rough though but I got her to the parking space.
I will let you all know what happens in a few days.
I guess though if any one has another idea... shoot it at me, but for know I am guessing a bad fuel pump.....?
