My New Bestop Supertop is On
I'm impressed with the quality of this thing overall. There are a couple of things I would have done differently with the design (like being able to roll up the side windows like the rear window does, and being able to access the bed through the sliding window on the cab). But other than that, I'm happy with it. Significantly lighter than my old fiberglass truck cap, and easily removable should I get into a spot on the trails where it may be damaged.
Here are some pics from today. Took about 2 hours to install.

Thanks. I paid $500 for mine, free shipping, and a $20 discount from TruckAddons. They didn't have it in stock and drop shipped it directly from Bestop in Colorado.
Normally I'd stay away from TruckAddOns, they're not the most reliable company in the world for shipping. But for a product like this, the fact that I knew they had to drop ship it direct, and it was around $100 cheaper than anywhere else I found online, I went with them anyways.
The one on my truck is for the 89-04 models...but it fits fine on my 88 as I have a 6 foot bed now after the bed bob I did (used to be a longbed).

Thanks...I know what you mean. I have one as well that I'm no longer using. It was way too heavy and really wouldn't have worked out for the trails for long. But since I like to take my dog with me whenever I can on trail rides, I figured I needed something to make it comfortable for her as well. I also plan to use it for camping...I'll get my first chance to use it for camping next month on a big trail ride we're doing up in Pennsylvania at Rausch Creek.

I couldn't tell you about the 4Runner thing...perhaps though.
Yes, the sides unzip and come off. The back does too, but it also rolls up and is held up by elastic straps if you want to run that way. But the sides have to be taken completely off, they don't roll up like some of the other canvas tops I've seen (Can-Back being one of them).

I don't see why it wouldn't work on a Runner. If your back area behind the roof is 6 ft, then it should work. I'm sure you could modify the window that would be behind the front seats to open up, but that wouldn't be absolutely necessary to do.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The Can-Back is great, but that price tag is hard to stomach. I like that you can mount a rack on top of a Can-Back though...that's the only other option I wish you could do with this one. But hell, I've got plenty of space in the bed now that I put that tire carrier on, so I don't really need a rack up top anymore.

I love the way your truck looks. Did you use herculiner on the back half? I really want one of these but since my truck is an extra cab, I'm worried that the gap between the rear window of the cab and the front window of the top would look goofy.

Very nice! I didn't know they were making one for second gens yet...I love mine too its awesome for camping and its way cheaper than a hard shell and it just looks badass!! I'm wantin to get a tire carrier like you got there, exactly what I want mine to look like! I just wish the sides would roll up instead of slide out on the shell...
