Mounting 2 new tires up front or rear??

I'm going to be purchasing 2 new tires (Bfg at ko) would it be better to mount them up front or in the rear? I read it's better to mount the new ones up front since more wear occurs in the front, but i've also read the opposite were there is no difference in tread wear between the front and rear. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

safer to have new tires as steering tires.

I bet your thread gets moved.

Why would it be safer to have new tires on the front?
You can steer the front if the tires break traction. What do you do when the rears break traction?

Make sense?

**edit** Did you even look at the link provided?

Front tires do wear quicker.
Will you be off roading very much? If yes, then mount them rear.
If not, put them on the front IF you plan on replacing the rears soon.

If you have a 4wd it's best to replace all 4 together. Hell even if it's 2wd it's best, but in 4wd you want all the tires equal in size.

I suggest to all you "front" voters to watch the video.. you will change your mind.. I used to beleive in the front theory too.. until I saw that on TV.. its pretty rock solid proof...

If your rear tires break traction fromt he road your as good as gone if you fishtail and lose control. At least if the frotns break traction and lose control you maybe able to pull out of it.

Whenever I get new tires I usually rorate the best of the old set to the front and mount the new ones to the rear. Rears come up, fronts are tossed or kept as a spare tire and new tires to the rear.

Go talk to a tire place, not a pepboys or cheap chains tore but a real tire place.

My rear tires wear faster than the fronts but I have a detroit in the back and it doesn't like uturns or turning corners. I think it's kind of a wash on putting old tires up front or in the rear. If they're in the rear you could fish tail and if they're in the front stopping in the rain could really suck.

I think it is a regional thing. Maybe in the northwest or midwest where you get a lot of rain you should keep the new tires in the back, but here in the Southwest people usually put the new tires up front.

In the southeast we buy 4 new tires because we run them till you can see the air inside, just kidding, I've never had tires with that much difference in the front or rear. If the backs were bad the fronts were damn close, maybe I'm unique but I doubt it.

I just replaced my tires, some stock street tires with BFG allterrains (2in taller), I will always buy 4 new tires...It is a little bit more expensive, but i think it is worth it for safety

Typically, 2WD trucks have newer tires (mud terrains or something) in back for traction.... maybe you should follow the same principal.

I always replace 4 too... with proper rotations they should wear evenely.. I have never had two wear out faster than the others...

x2 on the proper rotation. i got in the habit of rotating every 5000 miles on my current set of duelers. with 55000 miles on them now, you could not tell me which two were last in the front or rear. kinda skirts the necessity of guessing where to put two new tires, since they all need replacement at the same time.

not to threadjack too far though, i would have always put new tires on the front. only 7 inches precip annually in reno.

I say front's, but I always replace mine in sets of 5. And the rears always wear out faster, dam burn outs.
