Motor Swap Woes

I have an 86 toyota with a 22r. I recently blew the motor and swapped it with an 82 22r. Everything has gone great except for one thing, the alternator. The alternator from the 82 must have had a different amp output because it kept blowing fuses. I didnt realize this until I had already gotten rid of my original motor. So I bought a new alternator. I got one that was the right year for the truck, 86. But the mounting brackets are different. Now I cant find a bracket anywhere. Does anyone have some insight for me? Will a 4runner bracket work? If so what year? Or is my best bet to return the new alternator and buy a GM single wire and conversion bracket?

Thanks in advance,
Corry

Which bracket is different the upper or lower and it might be because of a different amp output but I am almost certain it was blowing fuses because the 82 alternators didn't have an internal voltage regulator like the 86 does. It used an external voltage regulator, which mean you were most likely running in an over volt situation.

I know the upper brackets are different because my new alternator wont mount up. I dont actually know what the one i need looks like, which is part of the problem. The lower bracket is part of the engine mount. I have compared the alternators and am fairly confident that the lowers are the same. Long story short I think its just the upper bracket.

Yeah and its blowing fuses either way so I figured the easiest way to avoid the problem was to get the correct alternator. I didnt take into account them mounting different.
