Manual tranny fill level?

Ok. I know there’s plenty of info on this except that I have drained and filled my manual tranny with specified amount and is still not flowing out of fill hole. This is not my first manual tranny change. Manual says 2.4 qts. I put 3 full quarts of Amsoil manual tranny lube without getting to flow out. Should I keep filling? Shifting is a bit knotchy after change so I feel that it’s not at the proper level. Any risk of overfilling? How could this be so far off? I now have to order more Amsoil which won’t be here for three days and want to make sure before I order and don’t want to mix with the cheap autozone tranny fluid. Also my Haines manual calls for 3.2 quarts in the transfer case which doesn’t even take 1.5. Not sure what there thinking is here. That would be one huge transfer case.

My G52 takes around 4.1 quarts. W56 is 3.2 though. Do you know what trans you have?
T-Case is 1.5 - 1.7 qts

I have always filled them to they leak on my face.

Nothing like misprints in manuals it happens all the time

Well I guess that would help. Sorry. It’s a 95 4runner 4wd 3.0 manual. I guess I will just order more from Amsoil and fill till it leaks out. Hope I’m not causing any damage if not totally full but would think 3 quarts would be sufficient till more oil arrives. I have no option in other vehicle at the moment.

The transmission type is on the sticker on the door pillar.
The manual says a G58 needs 4.1qts. http://web.archive.org/web/201210210...nce/2maint.pdf
3.2qts is for an R150.

My 84 is a G52 so that's where I got the 4.1 qts. That link also says a w56 is 3.1 qts so I was close on that.

Ok so it’s a R150f. I put in 3 qts so I guess I am a little shy. Will fill it to overflow when Amsoil order comes in. Would beyond .2 of a quart low make my shifting notch. Difficult to put in reverse? Just started happening after fluid change. I thought that if anything getting rid of the old dirty oil and putting in Amsoil would really smooth things out. Guess I will wait to see the difference.2 quarts makes.

So I just added another 2 was of oil and still has not come out the fill hole. That’s 5 qts of oil... and yes it is def the tranny fill plug. Where could it all be going if I am 1.8qts over specified amount and still not full?
