lurking..now i post.22re exhaust question.

In march I got a Great deal on a "get that leaky sumbitch out of driveway" 86 4runner. It had new tires 31-15.motor rebuilt@ 345.xxx. now has 435.xxx.After I puttered home with it. I started to work on as time allowed. The spark plate.? had rusted through the pipe down under the driver and taken the rest of the pipe with it. replaced 20.00. still puttering though not as loud.I think the guy who rebuilt it all just sold it after he did all that work and failed to tighten down the bolts on the exhaust maifold.could these bolts slowly release if not tightened down properly.?
Also, would it be better to just buy a tailgate with a window in it rather that try and fix all the rusted out in-ards installing a new window(the truck came >minus< a rear window.just did a tune up. plugs loked good.worn but good. noticed a good deal more hill power, idle, all yoda stuff$$$..any other things to check wise ones of the yoda forum...? thanks. enjoy all your advice.NH

yep, the exhaust nuts tend to loosen over time, and often strip the threads from the head. good idea to retorque them every so often.
